Our Team

Aly B. Ettman, Producing Artistic Director/Board President:

In 2012, I founded Peter’s Alley with a simple mission: To create opportunities for local theater artists to do what they love most and produce kick-ass theatre in the process.
Though blessed with enough business saavy to get me in trouble, for me, company success is measured not in dollars or audience size, but in the ability to consistently provide a collaborative, supportive, and highly professional experience for all involved, in every aspect of production.
An Artist, first, last and always, I have participated as director or actor in all of the company’s productions over the past six years. I am passionately focused on telling the story and creating meaningful human connections onstage, off stage and with engaged audiences. I am beyond humbled to share the next chapter of the Peter’s Alley journey with my brilliant and beautiful (inside and out) team.

Alison Bauer, Resident Actor/Board Member:

My first encounter with Peter’s Alley was a season audition in 2015. Having never met Aly and only knowing of her company from the website, I didn’t know what to expect. What I found was someone who obviously loves all that is theater. The audition was so warm and welcoming that I finally did was I was taught  and wrote her a note of thanks with an offer to help out however she needed. Aly took me up on my offer by putting me on box office for “Educating Rita”. The show was rich and all the players from cast to crew seemed so deeply committed to create great theater. Fast foward to 2018 and another welcoming audition, this time for Aly as director with a different company for the DC Fringe production of The Vandal. Cast in the show with two other brilliant actors, Aly supportively carried me through as I dug deeply into my character. Her dedication to “real on a shoestring” created performances where the actors were able to focus on what mattered, each other. It is my pleasure to step into the incorporation of Peter’s Alley as the company takes on a new role and provides the DMV with beautiful theater.

Jenna Murphy, Resident Actor/Board Member

“My journey with Peter’s Alley started when I auditioned for, and subsequently played the role of Libby in Neil Simon’s I Oughta be in Pictures, directed by Artistic Director Aly Ettman. I had a great time working on the show and made sure to follow the company’s work as a patron. What I appreciate most about Peter’s Alley, as an actor and audience member, is its intimacy. The shows are always in tune with what community and its artists need at the moment. I am thrilled to be part of the team as we start this new chapter in the company’s history.”
Jenna Murphy is a theater artist based in the D.C. area. Locally, she has performed at Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, Forum Theatre, Restoration Stage, and (of course) Peter’s Alley. As a writer, her devised works have been seen at Arena Stage and The Mansion at Strathmore.

Dan Remmers, Resident Set Designer/Board Member:

I joined Peter’s Alley in the fall of 2016, designing and building the set for Dinner With Friends.  All my prior design work was in community theater, so that was my first foray into professional theater.  I enjoyed working with a small company, which has less bureaucracy and allows more time for the creative process.  More minimalist designs and small budgets let me exercise my stubbornly frugal nature (thanks, dad).
